MARKIN Galfan® Tubing

Markin's Galfan® tubing is produced using a proprietary process where Galfan® coating, consisting of 95% Zinc + 5% Aluminum, is applied in-line to the outside surface of Markin's signature low carbon, welded small diameter steel tubing. In addition, an aluminum rich epoxy paint topcoat (available in gray or black) is applied for extra protection.

The Galfan® coating and epoxy topcoat create a superior corrosion-fighting bond that provide over 3,000 hours of salt spray protection, in accordance with ASTM B117.

Galfan® with topcoat is a technically advanced cost-effective alternative to expensive corrosion resistant coatings such as:

  • PVF
  • PVDF
  • Nylon

It has also proven to be an effective and significant cost reducing alternative to tubing made out of:

  • Copper
  • Stainless Steel
  • Aluminum

The availability in outside diameters range from 5/32" to 3/4" and .025" to .049" in wallt thickness. A wide range of true metric sizes are also available.

Advantages  of GALFAN®

The advantages include:

  • A cost effective alternative to higher prices anti-corrosion materials and coating.
  • Available in gray or black top coats, both eye appealing for highly visible applications.
  • Performs consistently to 3,000+ hours of protection in salt spray testing.
  • 100% Chromium-free topcoats.
  • Three dedicated Galfan® mills to meet volume demands and fluctuating requirements.

Galfan® is applied to the tubes in a hot-dip process similar to zinc galvanizing. The synergy of the duplex coating results in corrosion resistance that exceeds the sum of the protection provided by either coating applied individually.

Even though most current applications for this product are in automotive, it can be used in any application where corrosion could be an issue. Examples include applications where tubes are:

  • buried in soil or concrete
  • exposed to alternating wet and dry conditions
  • where there is high humidity or sea air exposure

Several appliance manufacturers have tested and evaluated our product, deeming it to be a cost effective replacement of copper tubing. It has also been successful in the replacement of stainless tubing in certain automotive applications.

Let us reduce your costs, explore Markin's Galfan® as an alternative to other costly materials and coatings!

The professionals at Markin are looking forward to demonstrating the advantages of their product for your small diameter carbon steel tubing applications.
